Phoenix from the ashes…

July 23rd, 2011

It was hugely encouraging to receive a call from a group of entrepreneurial ex-Amdega employees. Putting their considerable knowledge and expertise to work, with the help of Fusion, they’ve developed and launched the Chelsea Summerhouses brand. And to capitalise upon the key selling season, Fusion quickly produced a direct mail brochure and website to promote the new brand, with an imminent advertising campaign about to break. Given our summers we think the summerhouses will be a hit… even just to shelter from the rain in!

The Big 5-0

April 14th, 2011

Fusion’s Mark Neale hit the big 5-0 recently and to commemorate the event, the guys in the Fusion studio created a wonderful illustration of the man…

Incredibly, Mark has been mistaken for Damon Hill on a few occasions, more recently he’s been likened to Eddie Jordan, but he’s most often referred to as Snoop Dogg by friends of his daughters. Adding further to the similarity between Mark and Snoop, they both own classic ’70′s Lincolns; Mark’s being a rather OTT ’72 Mark IV.

The illustration shows Mark in his pre-50 attire ; from now on it will be a Greenwoods for Men wardrobe…

New brand identity for Paul Swift Precision Driving

March 11th, 2011
Sometimes a project comes along that you immediately want to be involved with – and for Fusion’s own petrol-head Mark Neale, this was one of them.

The Paul Swift Precision Driving team provides specialist driving services to both business clients and consumers; motor manufacturers, including Audi and Ford (the recent TV advertisement for the Audi R8 Spyder being one example) use the team’s skill and expertise behind the scenes, whilst for high-profile entertainment events such as Top Gear Live and the company’s own driving experiences, the Paul Swift Precision Driving Team take on a more visible role.

After considering several design agencies, Paul Swift Precision Driving appointed Fusion Creative Services to develop a new brand identity for the company. The brief  was simple; create a dynamic and instantly recognisable brand identity for Paul Swift Precision Driving, which was appropriate for both its business clients and consumer audience. And it had to feature black and red!

The identity Fusion created was designed to work across a broad range of applications from the high impact of the team’s stunt vehicle livery, visible at consumer events, to subtle and professional marketing communications employed for its business clients.

Fusion created a new brand identity which works effectively in all media environments with striking visual impact and, given the wide and varied application of the brand identity, we developed a Visual Identity Guide to ensure its use was consistent.

As for Fusion’s Mark Neale, the project made quite an impression. Courtesy of Paul Swift, he now has some degree of skill to make high speed handbrake and J-turns, much to the benefit of his parking in the supermarket car park…

Tabloid receives Ministerial attention

March 11th, 2011

We recently created a publication for Darlington College to promote Apprenticeship Week. Our innovative design took cues from a newspaper format and, rather than give it the usual tactile qualities afforded by a silk or gloss paper, we printed it on a stock to suggest newsprint. The results were pretty striking; Darlington College’s publication really stood out from the plethora of other apprenticeship promotional material – so much so, it received a mention in Ministerial dispatches and the National Apprenticeship Service included it in a montage of activity for the Government office. Not bad for a tabloid!

In the sh*t

March 10th, 2011

Fusion are one of the members of Cleveland College of Arts Industrial Liaison Group – we feedback whether we think students are being thrown into the real world prepared with the required designskills. These, normally tame affairs, were spiced up recently when a female tutor invited three male members into the ladies loos! All was definitely NOT what it seemed… the female toilets had previously been the prison cells and came complete with cell doors and windows! Certainly puts another spin on the phrase “In the sh*t”! Seriously though, the college is set in an amazing building, as well as having been a prison cell, it’s also been the court room and library!

Wagbo typeface

December 1st, 2010

During a snowbound stir-crazy moment in the Fusion office, one of the designers crafted a rather creative weather-themed typeface called Wagbo – his inspiration was our unfortunate look-a-likey designer Ryan. Hopefully, he’ll take the hint and get his mop cut!
